* Some grammar sources traditionally categorize English language into 8 parts of speech. Others say 10. At EnglishClub, we use the more recent categorization of 9 parts of speech communication. Examples of other categorizations are:

    • auxiliary Verbs (be, have, must)
  • Determiners may exist treated as adjectives, instead of being a separate part of speech.

Here are some examples of sentences fabricated with different English parts of speech:

Words with More than Than 1 Chore

Many words in English can have more than i job, or be more than one role of speech communication. For example, "piece of work" can be a verb and a noun; "but" can be a conjunction and a preposition; "well" can exist an adjective, an adverb and an interjection. In addition, many nouns can act equally adjectives.

To analyze the part of speech, inquire yourself: "What job is this discussion doing in this judgement?"
